Army Corps awards $15.9 million for engineer facility on Beale AFB
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $15,947,269 contract to MACNAK Korte Group LLC of Lakewood, Wash., June 10 to build a new civil engineer administration and operations facility at Beale Air Force Base.

Public comment period extended for temporary drought barriers
The public comment period has been extended two weeks for the permit application from California Department of Water Resources regarding their proposal to erect three temporary drought barriers in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. Originally set to close April 16, the comment period is now open through April 29.

Corps’ chief of engineers signs off on plan to reduce Truckee River flood risk
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Truckee River Flood Management Authority are closer to moving forward with a $280.8 million plan to reduce flood risk along the Truckee River after Corps Commanding General Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick signed off on the project April 11 at Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Nesting eagles return to Eastman Lake, popular trail temporarily closed
Bald eagles have returned to nest at the Sacramento District’s Eastman Lake and the popular Lakeview Trail will remain closed through July 31 in order to protect them.

Helping prevent a repeat of the 1997 record flooding in Reno, Nev., has been the focus of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District’s Truckee Meadows Flood Control Project ever since that devastation. Now the district’s recommended plan is a big step closer to final Corps approval.
