  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers launches second year of Every Kid in a Park program

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it will continue its support of President Obama’s initiative Every Kid in a Park pass program, which officially begins its second year today. Launched last year, the initiative gives fourth grade students and their families free access to federal lands and waters as well as some state parks for a full school year.

  • Army Corps awards $39 million for Camp Roberts satellite facility

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $39 million contract Sept. 3 to Watts Constructors LLC of Honolulu, Hawaii, to build satellite communication facilities at Camp Roberts, near Paso Robles.

  • Army Corps awards $7 million for Fort Ord habitat restoration project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $7 million contract Aug. 28 to Burleson Consulting Inc. of Folsom for habitat restoration and biomonitoring of endangered species at the former Fort Ord. This phase of the environmental project is set to begin in fall of 2014 and end in the fall of 2019.

  • Army Corps awards $1.4 million for drought-resistant landscaping at Presidio of Monterey

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $1.4 million contract Aug. 20 to Jacob Construction & Design Inc. of San Luis Obispo to replace approximately 2.8 acres of turf at the Presidio of Monterey with drought-resistant landscaping.   • Army Corps awards $18.5 million for work at Presidio of Monterey

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded an $18.5 million contract Sept. 30 to Halbert Construction Company Inc. of El Cajon for construction of a new dining facility and supporting facilities at the Presidio of Monterey.

  • Corps maintains higher water storage capacity at Success Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District announced June 10 it will maintain the operating restriction at Success Dam implemented in 2012. The restriction allows water storage up to 65,000 acre-feet or approximately 75 percent of the maximum capacity of the reservoir behind Success Dam. Ultimately, this could mean more water for local users during high-water months.
