    Celebrating 50 years of solid service, Corps and community leaders will gather July 19 to commemorate the 1963 opening of Black Butte Dam, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District project near Orland.

    Corps maintains higher water storage capacity at Success Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District announced June 10 it will maintain the operating restriction at Success Dam implemented in 2012. The restriction allows water storage up to 65,000 acre-feet or approximately 75 percent of the maximum capacity of the reservoir behind Success Dam. Ultimately, this could mean more water for local users during high-water months.

    Corps offers tips on avoiding and treating swimmer’s itch

    Warning signs are being posted at New Hogan Lake with a seasonal recurrence of swimmer’s itch reported by two visitors to the lake today. Visitors are cautioned to avoid swimming where warning signs are posted, and to heed guidance from the Centers for Disease Control to towel dry and shower immediately after swimming, and avoid feeding birds at the lake.
