  • Army Corps will build $29 million general instruction building at Presidio of Monterey

    The Sacramento District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $29 million contract yesterday to RQ Construction, Inc., of Carlsbad, Calif. to build a general instruction building at the Presidio of Monterey.
  • Corps publishes Mormon Island Relocation Cemetery files

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District has published its files related to its relocation in 1954 of 13 cemeteries and private burial plots to the Mormon Island Relocation Cemetery during the construction of Folsom Dam.
  • Corps to hold public meetings about Isabella Dam safety fixes

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District and U.S. Forest Service Sequoia National Forest will host three public scoping meetings May 17-19 to seek input for the Isabella Lake Dam Safety Modification Study’s draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
  • Corps to close South River Road in April

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is set to close South River Road beginning in mid-April until November 2011, as part of the Sacramento River Bank Protection Project to help reduce flood risk for West Sacramento, Calif. The road closure is required to facilitate construction of a new setback levee.
  • Folsom Lake Crossing to periodically close for blasting activities

    Folsom Lake Crossing will be closed for up to one hour twice a day beginning no later than March 23, to complete blasting on the Folsom Dam Joint Federal Project’s third phase.
  • Eastman Lake temporarily closes trail to protect nesting bald eagles

    The Lakeview Trail at Eastman Lake has been closed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District and will remain closed until Aug. 14 to protect a pair of nesting bald eagles. Park rangers have posted closure signs on the trail at the Raymond Bridge and Codorniz Recreation Area trailheads.
  • Corps of Engineers to outline schedule for blasting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will host a public meeting Feb. 23 at Folsom Veterans Hall to discuss its schedule for excavation blasting at Folsom Dam as part of the Joint Federal Project.
  • Joint Federal Project shifts to Corps of Engineers for Phase 3

    The Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Central Valley Flood Protection Board, and Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency announce the completion of the Joint Federal Project’s second phase and the start of the third phase as Reclamation officially hands off the project to the Corps for the final three phases at Folsom Dam and Reservoir.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District beat a major deadline on the Napa Railroad Relocation Project when it removed the second of two cofferdams from the Napa River Dec. 8, keeping flood risk reduction work for the city of Napa, Calif., on schedule.
  • Groundbreaking ceremony held for $1.2 billion Utah Data Center

    The National Security Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers broke ground today on a $1.2 billion data center at Camp W.G. Williams National Guard Post here. The massive, one million square-foot facility is the largest current Department of Defense (DOD) project in the nation.
