    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $6.15 million contract Feb. 11 to BVB Construction Inc. of Ventura to expand the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System facility in Mather.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District today released the draft Orestimba Creek flood risk management feasibility study and environmental assessment/initial statement for review and public comment. The comment period will remain open until Feb. 7.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $4.1 million contract Dec. 27 to Tri-Technic Inc. of Sonora, for installation of a one megawatt grid energy storage unit at Fort Hunter Liggett, located in Monterey County.

    The area bordering and including Lakeview Trail at Eastman Lake (near Madera) is now in its seasonal hunting closure through July 15, 2013 to protect nesting bald eagles.

  • Black Butte Lake closes Observation Point Road

    Officials at Black Butte Lake park have closed Observation Point Road to vehicle traffic during repairs to erosion damage caused by recent rain storms. Black Butte Lake Park, near Orland, is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District.

  • Marysville Ring Levee phase one wrapping up

    After two full years of construction, phase one of the Marysville Ring Levee Project has drawn to a close with 4,600 linear feet of deep-soil-mixed cutoff wall installed – the first milestone in a four-phase project to reduce Marysville’s flood risk. “All major structural improvements for this stretch of levee are complete,” said Mark Ellis, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District project manager.
