    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District has awarded a $6.81 million contract Sept. 29 for work at Dugway Proving Grounds, located in Tooele County, Utah, to Au’ Authum Ki, Inc. of Chandler, Ariz., for construction of electrical transmission lines at the post.

    The construction site of the Utah Data Center at Camp W.G. Williams National Guard Post near Salt Lake City was evacuated today at approximately 12:15 p.m. local time after a package that raised concern was delivered to the construction management office.
  • Trenching, boring to start at Isabella Lake in October for Corps dam study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is set to begin geotechnical studies at Isabella Lake in early-to-mid-October as part of the Isabella Lake Dam Safety Modification Project. The study results will help determine whether soil and rock near the lake is suitable for use in proposed safety upgrades to Isabella Lake main and auxiliary dams.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $5.7 million contract Sept. 14 to RDA Contracting Inc. of San Rafael to build a seepage cutoff wall in an American River levee near the California State University-Sacramento campus.
  • USACE Releases Report on Initial Research into the Effects of Woody Vegetation on Levees

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) today released the results of an advanced, quantitative research effort on the impacts of trees on levees. The research, conducted by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), focused primarily on the gathering of root characterization and site conditions through fieldwork, and modeling of single, living trees for both slope stability analyses and seepage analyses.
