SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The construction site of the Utah Data Center at Camp W.G. Williams National Guard Post near Salt Lake City was evacuated today at approximately 12:15 p.m. local time after a package that raised concern was delivered to the construction management office.

Federal and local law enforcement officials were immediately alerted and are currently responding to the threat. All personnel will remain evacuated until the threat has been cleared.

“We don’t take any chances with safety,” said the Sacramento District’s security chief, Jonathan Payton. “We’re working closely with our law enforcement partners to aid their investigation in whatever way we can, and are ready to get back to work as soon as we get the all clear.”

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is managing construction of the $1.2 billion Utah Data Center facility for the National Security Agency. The FBI responded to the incident and determined that the package did not present a threat. The FBI is the lead agency for additional media queries. The FBI Salt Lake Office phone number is 801-579-1400.
