Army Corps awards $3.7 million contract for work at DDJC-Sharpe

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $3.79 million contract Sept. 27 to Onsite Construction and Engineering Inc. of Nipomo to replace fire sprinkler systems at Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin-Sharpe in Lathrop, 55 miles south of Sacramento.

Fire sprinkler systems at six warehouses at DDJC-Sharpe will be replaced as part of the contract, said project
manager Duane Balch.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early November 2011 and take up to 525 days.

The depot is one of two west coast hubs for military distribution activities, stocking items commonly ordered by the military services.

Onsite Construction and Engineering Inc. is a U.S. Small Business Administration woman-owned, 8(a)-designated small business. The Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program is designed to help small, disadvantaged businesses compete for federal contracts.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District provides planning, engineering, project management,
environmental restoration and construction services to military and civilian customers in parts of eight western states, including California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming.
