The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a three-year, $6.8 million construction contract to upgrade tainter gates at New Hogan Dam, the Corps facility near Valley Springs.

Corps approves Orestimba Creek flood study

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Commanding General Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick approved the Orestima Creek Feasibility Study, which recommends building a levee along the city of Newman’s northwest perimeter to reduce flood risk for the city and surrounding agricultural areas.

West Davis Corridor and Corps permit

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has not taken a position on the proposed West Davis Corridor project near Salt Lake City, Utah. “We’re actively engaged in discussions about various project alternatives, but a permit decision on the West Davis Corridor will only come after the Utah Department of Transportation submits a permit application,” said Jason Gipson, Corps Utah-Nevada regulatory branch chief.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District deployed a mobile command center –the deployable tactical operations system, or DTOS – to Aurora, Colo., Sept. 14 to assist in the federal government’s response to severe flooding throughout the state.

Corps awards design services contract for Isabella Lake Dam project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $111,998 contract Aug. 27 to URS-GEI Joint Venture of Oakland as part of the Isabella Lake Dam Safety Modification Project. The contract is to conduct architectural engineering design work, which will be used for future blasting design efforts. No blasting or drilling will be conducted under this contract.

Corps releases inspection rating for four Kings River levee systems

Inspections by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District rated maintenance of four Kings River levee systems in California's Kings and Fresno counties as unacceptable.
