SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers appropriations for fiscal year 2015 added $5.2 million for Sacramento District flood risk reduction-related construction and investigations in the Central Valley. This funding is in addition to the $141 million received in February this year.
Appropriations typically fund projects through the end of the fiscal year, which ends September 30; however, the additional funding will not be required to be executed by then. Sacramento District projects receiving additional funds include:
Construction:
• Yuba River Basin: $2 million towards completing later phases' design, plans and specifications
• Folsom Dam Raise design: $510,000 to complete gate modification analysis
• Sacramento River Bank Protection Project: $1.5 million for design, plans and specifications for FY16 construction
Investigation:
• Sacramento/San Joaquin Comp Basin: $350,000 to complete feasibility study
• San Joaquin/lower San Joaquin: $600,000 to complete feasibility study
• Sutter County: $250,000 to execute design agreement ($100,000) and complete geotechnical investigations ($150,000)
