  • Construction continues on Marysville Ring Levee

    Construction of a small but necessary section of the Marysville Ring Levee is underway and should be completed by mid-August 2017, maintaining momentum on the project to lessen flood risk in the northern California town of Marysville. The current construction was funded at approximately $825,000 and the site is located in the center of a railway intersection known as Binney Junction, adjacent to the Catholic Cemetery of Marysville.
  • Army Corps, California and SAFCA release draft plans for $1.46 billion in Sacramento levee work

    Recommendations for $1.46 billion in future improvements for Sacramento’s flood infrastructure are now open for public comment, described in two related reports by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, state of California and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is waiving its day use fees for military veterans, active duty and reserve personnel and their families at all of its parks on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
  • UPDATE: Folsom spillway blasting to periodically close roadway weekdays 1:30-2:30 p.m.

    Through the end of the year, Folsom Lake Crossing will be closed for up to one hour weekdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. for blasting work to excavate portions of the new Folsom Dam auxiliary spillway approach channel.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $1.58 million contract Sept. 23 to Zumwalt Construction, Inc. of Fresno to expand the security forces building at Moffett Field near Mountain View.

    Inspections by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District rated the levee system surrounding the City of Woodland, Calif., as unacceptable.
  • Likely algal bloom temporarily closes Martis Creek Lake

    Martis Creek Lake near Truckee has been temporarily closed due to a likely algal bloom. Access to the lake has been restricted and park rangers are posting signs warning visitors against entering or allowing their pets to enter the water. The Martis Creek Lake wildlife area and its hiking trails and the Alpine Meadows campground remain open during the lake closure.
