Kris Hansen has been awarded the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District Regulatory Excellence Award for her work in 2015.

Hansen, who serves Corps regulatory clients from the Reno, Nevada office, was instrumental in completing a complicated permit decision for new, large highway Reno-Sparks Southeast Connector.

The action involved compatibility with a Corps study (Truckee Meadows), tribal interests, cultural resources, endangered species, mercury methylation, and considerable public and congressional interest.

Hansen also served as acting branch chief for several months during the year. In addition to receiving the Sacramento District award, Hansen was nominated for the National Regulator of the Year award.

The award was announced during the Sacramento District’s regulatory annual meeting held April 26-28 in downtown Sacramento. The annual meeting enabled 53 regulators from seven offices across Sacramento District’s four-state service area to discuss current issues as part of the group’s ongoing efforts to improve consistency, effectiveness and efficiency in service.
