SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Offering a laidback day of free fishing, food and fun -- wounded veterans and their families are invited to take part in Take a Warrior Fishing May 3, 2014, at Pine Flat Lake, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park near Piedra.

Veterans can check in from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the Deer Creek recreation area. All fishing equipment, including a fishing license, will be available for free and veterans can fish from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

“We have a terrific team of volunteers from Central Valley Veterans, local fishing clubs and other service groups ready to host our veterans and their families,” said event coordinator Zachary Montreuil, USACE park ranger. “Early response from our veterans has been terrific and we would appreciate more boat captains.”

To register for the event, volunteer as a boat captain or for more information, contact Montreuil at 559-787-2589 or via email at zachary.j.montreuil@usace.army.mil.

“We are honored to host this event as a small token of our thanks to our veterans and their families for all they have given,” said Montreuil.
