Army Corps encourages water safety for Labor Day weekend
The upcoming holiday weekend is one of the year’s busiest times at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks and lakes, and usually sees an increase in accidents on the water. To help keep visitors safe, Corps park rangers offer the following water safety tips.

Army Corps awards $1.4 million for drought-resistant landscaping at Presidio of Monterey
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $1.4 million contract Aug. 20 to Jacob Construction & Design Inc. of San Luis Obispo to replace approximately 2.8 acres of turf at the Presidio of Monterey with drought-resistant landscaping. Corps to host public meetings to update Pine Flat Lake master plan
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will host public meetings Sept. 9-10 seeking input to update Pine Flat Lake and Dam’s master plan, which guides the management of natural and cultural resources and development of recreation-related facilities in and around the Corps-managed reservoir 35 miles east of Fresno.

Accelerated Folsom Dam spillway progress estimated to reduce project emissions
Analysis of air quality compliance for the Folsom Dam auxiliary spillway project released August 18 found that increased construction activity would likely cause emissions to exceed federal thresholds for 2014, but could help reduce total emissions over the life of the project.

Corps begins real estate actions for Isabella Lake Dam project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District has begun to acquire land and relocate residents at two of 12 properties that will be impacted by construction of the Isabella Lake Dam Safety Modification Project. As part of the analysis of the project’s potential effects on the properties, the Corps released a finding of no significant impact and supplemental environmental assessment for public review.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $53,699,643 contract Aug. 7 to Swinerton Builders of Arvada, Colo., for construction of a distributed common ground support operations facility at Beale Air Force Base, near Marysville.

Army Corps awards $7.7 million for Dugway Proving Ground solar array
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $7,746,291 contract August 7 to TriEco-Tetra Tech Sustainable Resources Joint Venture of San Diego for installation of a two-megawatt solar photovoltaic array at Dugway Proving Ground, located in Tooele County, Utah.
