A public information meeting outlining upcoming levee construction work along Tenmile Slough will be held April 7 as a new multi-year project aimed at reducing flood risk in north and central Stockton prepares to begin this spring.

USACE set to begin vegetation removal along Lower San Joaquin River ahead of levee construction work next spring

Crews will begin trimming trees and removing vegetation along the Lower San Joaquin River as soon as October 17, 2024, to allow access for construction vehicles and machinery to complete levee improvements at river mile 30 of Tenmile Slough. Workers will be in the area for approximately two weeks during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

USACE awards mitigation contract ahead of Lower San Joaquin River levee work

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $2.6 million contract May 31 to C.T.L. Forest Management, Inc. for the creation of approximately 59 acres of habitat to offset environmental impacts of future levee improvements.

More than $188 million in flood risk management work for Northern California were outlined in two separate budget releases on February 10, adding to an already robust Sacramento District workload.
