El Centro Rocket Target No.1 (#92) is a Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) located approximately 11 miles northwest of the city of El Centro in Imperial County, California. The property has one Munitions Response Site (MRS-01) named “El Centro Rocket Target No.1 (#92) which was acquired by the Eleventh Naval District in 1945 for use as a practice rocket, bombing and strafing target for Fleet Unit training.
The Navy discontinued use of the site in October 1946. The Rocket Range is approximately 1,110 acres and is mostly owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and several private owners. The BLM portion of the MRS is uncultivated, undeveloped, rough desert land while the privately owned portion is used as agricultural land.
