SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is seeking public comment on the the draft Martis Creek master plan update and accompanying environmental assessment, now available for public review, and has scheduled a public meeting to discuss the proposed plan with interested individuals.
The master plan, which guides the management of natural and cultural resources and development of recreation-related facilities in and around the Corps-managed reservoir near Truckee, was last updated in 1977. If any modifications to Martis Creek Dam are proposed in the future as a result of the Corps’ ongoing dam safety study, the master plan would be further reviewed and modified as necessary.
Anyone interested in helping guide the proposed plan has until December 20, 2014 tocomment, either by reviewing the report online on the Corps’ web page at www.bitly.com/martiscreeklake, or by attending an upcoming public meeting with Corps representatives on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.
The public meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Arts Center at 10046 Church Street in Truckee, California. The meeting will be an open house format, and there will not be a formal opportunity for questions or comments before the audience. Announcements have been posted throughout the Martis Creek Lake recreation areas.
