Army Corps awards $579K for roof work at Tracy defense depot

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $579,082 contract to Johnson Roofing & Contraction Inc. of Ventura Sept. 30 for roof replacement work at the Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin in Tracy.

A portion of the depot’s main administrative building’s roof will be replaced under the contract. Construction is expected to start in winter 2014 and be completed in spring 2015.

“The defense depot in Tracy helps keep our troops overseas well-supplied and this maintenance work makes sure they have the facilities they need to do that important job,” said Duane Balch, Sacramento District project manager.

Johnson Roofing & Construction is a U.S. Small Business Administration-designated disadvantaged, 8(a) small business. The federal government sets aside certain contract bid opportunities for small businesses.

The Defense Logistics Agency is the Department of Defense's largest logistics combat support agency, providing worldwide logistics support in both peacetime and wartime to the military services as well as several civilian agencies and foreign nations.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District provides planning, engineering, project management, environmental restoration and construction services to military and civilian customers in parts of eight western states, including California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming.
