SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $47 million contract Sep. 25 to Martin Brothers Construction of Sacramento for the demolition and reconstruction of the tidal side road network at Military Ocean Terminal (MOTCO) in Concord.

"This project is a major milestone in the restoration of the aging WWII-era infrastructure at MOTCO,” said Steve Mitchell, project manager for the Sacramento District. “Road repairs and undergrounding of utilities will provide the installation with improved means to execute their mission quickly and safely."

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2018. Due to the multi-phase nature of the demolition and repairs, work is projected to continue for approximately five years.

The Corps partners with military installations to deliver energy efficient infrastructure and to maintain enduring installations, primarily through restoring and modernizing existing installation facilities.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District provides planning, engineering, project management, environmental restoration and construction services to military and civilian customers in parts of eight western states, including California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming.
