Double Hybrid Fishway Takes Shape Along Sacramento River in Yolo County
Construction crews work on the fish passage structure along the west bank of the Sacramento River in Yolo County, California, on June 5, 2025. The structure is part of the Sacramento Weir Widening Project managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, which will create an 8,600-foot "double hybrid technical fishway" for endangered salmon, steelhead and sturgeon. The $350 million project combines flood control infrastructure with fish passage capabilities to protect threatened species during high-water events.
