Baffle Construction takes shape in Fish Passage Structure
A view looking through the Sacramento Weir fish passage shows the series of baffles installed along the channel on May 14, 2025. The baffle system is designed to create manageable water flows for endangered salmon, steelhead and sturgeon up to 10 feet long as they navigate through the structure managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District. The "double hybrid technical fishway" will allow fish to safely pass through flood control infrastructure during high-water events. (Courtesy Photo by Adam Bier)
