Captains, and their boats, needed for Warriors on the Lake event May 14

Published May 4, 2016

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Central Valley Veterans Organization are looking for boats and captains to support a fishing tournament May 14 at Pine Flat Lake near Fresno.

The fifth annual Central Valley Veterans’ Warriors on the Lake event, designed to let disabled military Veterans know their life isn’t over due to their injuries, has seen more service members sign up than anticipated and now boat space is an issue.

Organizers are looking for boat captains and their boats to accommodate about 20 additional service members.

If you have a boat, or know someone who would like to support our disable Veterans in the Central Valley or are part of a local fishing club that could help out, please contact Corps park ranger Art Barragan at 559-673-5151 or the staff at Pine Flat Lake at 559-787-2589.

The event includes breakfast, fishing tournament, barbeque lunch and raffle prizes, and it’s all free for participants thanks to the help of local sponsors and donations. Everyone also receives an event T-shirt and plaque.
