Extended work hours begin for south Sacramento flood wall

Published Sept. 11, 2012

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Working from sun up to sun down, seven days a week; that’s the extended work hours now in effect for crews working under the supervision of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, in order to complete construction of a new concrete flood wall along Morrison Creek in south Sacramento by December.

Local residents have been notified that construction is now scheduled seven days a week, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and work will continue until November 30, 2012.

The $5.9 million 3,300-foot-long flood wall will extend an existing flood wall, further reducing flood risk in the area. The work is a joint effort between the Corps, the state’s Central Valley Flood Protection Board and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency.
