SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Success Lake’s Rocky Hill Recreation Area will be closed to all visitors from sunset to sunrise, effective June 15. Visitors who are boating at closing time will be asked to trailer their vessels and depart as quickly as possible after coming off the water. Previously, Rocky Hill was closed to new day-use visitors at sunset, but visitors who were already boating or fishing at closing time were allowed to remain. The change ensures park rangers are accessible while the recreation area is open to the public, for safety and the protection of public facilities.
Success Lake’s Tule Recreation Area will remain open for night fishing, boat access, camping and day-use. Fees and operating hours for all other Success amenities are unchanged.
“We regret any inconvenience the change may cause for our visitors,” said Cal Parret, Success Lake park manager. “But this is the right thing to do for safety and protecting our shared public resources.”
For more information on the closure, visitors are encouraged to contact the park headquarters office at 559-784-0215.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is America’s largest federal provider of outdoor recreation, serving more than 370 million visitors a year at 422 recreation parks in 43 states.
