SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Pine Flat Lake, located 30 miles east of Fresno, will celebrate National Public Lands Day on Sept. 30, providing free entry to day-use areas for volunteers participating in the event.
The event starts at 9 a.m. and the work will wrap up at noon. A variety of projects that volunteers may participate in include trash pick-up along the river, landscaping and other various restoration projects. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear appropriate work attire such as closed-toe shoes, long pants and shirts to shield from the elements. Lunch will be provided at noon for volunteers who participate in the cleanup.
Volunteers may also camp free at Pine Flat either the night before or on public lands day, and will also receive a coupon for a free day-use admission pass valid anytime in the next year at any park managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
