Lieutenant Colonel Ukachi received a commission as a second lieutenant in August 2009 from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Jos, Nigeria, a Master of Arts degree in Architecture from the Catholic University of America, Washington D.C., and a Master of Business Administration with a Project Management concentration from Columbia Southern University. He is also a graduate of the Engineer Captains Career Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he earned a Master of Arts degree in Military Operational Art and Science.
His previous assignments include serving as Platoon Leader, Assistant Brigade S3, Brigade Engineer, Battalion Plans Officer and Company Commander in the 7th Engineer Battalion at Fort Drum, New York. He also served as the Brigade Engineer Battalion-Observer-Controller/Trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and G5 Plans Officer at III Armored Corps, Fort Hood, Texas. Prior to his current assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Ukachi served as a Battalion Executive Officer, and most recently as Brigade Executive Officer in the 36th Engineer Brigade at Fort Cavazos, Texas.
Lieutenant Colonel Ukachi’s deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as a Platoon Leader to Regional Command South, Afghanistan, a Transition Team Officer in Charge in Regional Command West as part of the NATO Training Mission, Afghanistan, and as a Brigade Engineer in Regional Command East, Afghanistan in support of Operation Resolute Support.
Lieutenant Colonel Ukachi's awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the National Defense Service Medal with one star, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF Medal, and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
