The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District supported a team effort at Beale Air Force Base that recently earned the Department of the Air Force’s General Thomas D. White Environmental Award for Installation Restoration.

The award recognizes excellence in environmental restoration programs across the Air Force, highlighting achievements in restoring contaminated sites, protecting natural resources and advancing long-term environmental stewardship.

The Sacramento District partnered with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, regulatory agencies and contractors to support Beale’s restoration program, contributing technical expertise and project delivery across 23 sites in various phases of environmental remediation, addressing a range of contaminants. Key members of the USACE team included project manager Krissy Grill-Block, program manager Amy Estey and geologist Jessequa Parker.

“This award reflects strong partnerships and a shared commitment to safe, effective restoration,” said Col. Robert McTighe, district commander. “It takes coordinated effort across agencies to deliver results.”

The General Thomas D. White Award emphasizes team performance, recognizing the collective effort required to plan and execute environmental restoration programs. At Beale, that collaboration brought together federal partners, regulators and technical experts to advance cleanup milestones and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

USACE Sacramento District’s involvement supports both military readiness and long-term community protection by helping ensure contaminated sites are safely managed and restored for future use.

The Beale team will now advance to compete at the Department of Defense level.
