SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded three contracts for environmental restoration services at various formerly used defense sites throughout California. The contracts total about $6 million.
Oneida Total Integrated Enterprises of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was awarded $3 million Sept. 11. Helios Resources Ltd. of San Diego was awarded $1.7 million Sept. 19. North Winds Solutions LLC of San Diego was awarded $1.9 million Sept. 23.
The work will include multiple activities at about 15 sites throughout the state, ranging from document review to site investigations and remediation. The largest project will be at the former Mount Owen rifle range near Fresno where Oneida will investigate for leftover munitions. Other projects include waste removal at the former Stockton Ordnance Depot and Visalia Army Airfield.
The Corps of Engineers manages and directs the restoration of properties that were formerly owned by, leased to or otherwise possessed by the Department of Defense.
“These contracts reinforce our commitment to ensure properties once used for training or other military purposes are cleaned and restored to protect public health and the environment,” said James Austreng, a project manager with the Sacramento District.
Oneida is a Native American, tribally-owned small business. Helios Resources and North Winds Solutions are designated small businesses under the U.S. Small Business Administration’s business size regulations. The federal government sets aside certain contract bid opportunities exclusively for small businesses.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District provides planning, engineering, project management, environmental restoration and construction services to military and civilian customers in parts of eight western states, including California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming.
