SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Have no reservations -- there’s plenty of gorgeous blue water, camping and updated facilities ready for use at Black Butte Lake.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District recreation park near Orland now has 85,000 acre-feet of water -- seven times as much as the seasonal low from back when photos of the dry, cracked lakebed came to symbolize California’s drought.

“Those dry photos of our lake from months ago must have stuck in the minds of some folks, so right now’s a great opportunity to make Memorial Day and summer camping reservations,” said Mary Ann Deeming, park ranger at Black Butte Lake. “We’ve opened all campgrounds and boat ramps, plus our regular visitors will notice updates to restroom facilities and playgrounds.”

Buckhorn Campground contains 65 developed campsites and Orland Buttes Campground offers another 35 campsites. Reservations for both campgrounds can be made by calling 1-877-444-6777 or online at www.recreation.gov.

For further information, contact the park office Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 530-865-4781 or online at http://www.spk.usace.army.mil/Locations/SacramentoDistrictParks/BlackButteLake.aspx .
