Martis Creek Lake reopens, algae determined non-toxic

Martis Creek Lake near Truckee has reopened to the public following initial investigation of a possible algae bloom that closed the reservoir July 12. California Fish and Wildlife examined the algae at Martis Creek Lake and determined they were not a toxic variety, so U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District officials have reopened the popular fishing reservoir but continue to caution visitors against swimming or other direct water contact for now. Public comment period extended for temporary drought barriers
