SACRAMENTO, Calif. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District parks will celebrate National Public Lands Day on Sept. 24, waiving fees for its day-use recreation areas and hosting volunteers for a number of park improvement projects.

Recreation areas at Black Butte Lake, Martis Creek, New Hogan Lake, Stanislaus River Parks, Hensley Lake, Pine Flat Lake, Lake Kaweah and Success Lake will all be hosting volunteer events.

Events will include volunteer projects starting in the morning and free lunch will be provided for volunteers afterward. Volunteers may also camp free at any of our parks either the night before or on public lands day.

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. For more than two decades, outdoor enthusiasts have come together to improve their local recreation areas by helping with landscaping, small construction projects, litter removal and trail maintenance.
