Englebright Lake seeks volunteers for National Public Lands Day
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Englebright Lake, less than an hour outside of Yuba City, will celebrate National Public Lands Day a week early on Sept. 17, waiving fees for its day-use recreation areas and hosting volunteers for a number of park improvement projects.

Volunteers are needed to help clean up at Englebright Lake from 8:45 a.m. until noon. Participants will gather at the Boathouse in the Narrows Day Use area, and are encouraged to bring a lifejacket as most of the cleanup will take place either on the water, or in campgrounds and shorelines that are accessible only by boat. All volunteers who participate in the cleanup are invited to a BBQ, which will be provided at noon.

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. For more than two decades, outdoor enthusiasts have come together to improve local recreation areas by helping with landscaping, small construction projects, litter removal and trail maintenance.

         Date and Time: Saturday, September 17, 2016 – 8:45 a.m. to noon

Site: Englebright Lake, Narrows Day Use (at the Boathouse)

South Yuba River Citizens League will also host a cleanup from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to keep the Yuba River free of trash. Since 1998, friends of the Yuba River have rallied to remove 195,000 pounds of trash and recycling from the watershed!
