Published Sept. 10, 2014

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $32.9 million contract Sept. 5 to Gilbane Federal of Walnut Creek to build a general purpose warehouse for the Defense Logistics Agency at the Defense Distribution Depot in Tracy.

Construction of the new 360,000-square-foot warehouse is expected to help centralize the DLA’s distribution operations to the Tracy site, and make it the primary distribution center for their customers in the western United States and in the Pacific.

Construction for the warehouse is expected to begin later this month and is scheduled to be complete in early 2016.

The Corps has completed similar warehouse construction projects for DLA, most recently in January 2012, and is nearing completion on construction of a public safety center at the depot by the end of 2014.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District provides planning, engineering, project management, environmental restoration, and construction services to military and civilian customers in parts of eight western states, including California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming.
