SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The partial closure of one westbound lane of Folsom Lake Crossing will increase by two hours starting today, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily during weekdays.
The temporary closure is needed to repair a drainage canal near the bridge. Extending daily closure hours is intended to shorten the project’s duration, currently scheduled for completion July 1.
One of the westbound lanes of Folsom Lake Crossing will be closed to vehicle traffic weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., two hours longer than the previous schedule of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in effect since April 17.
The closed lane, which includes the westbound bicycle lane, will be used for heavy equipment during construction hours. The adjacent two-lane bicycle and pedestrian path will remain open, but may close periodically to allow the movement of heavy vehicles in the area. All pedestrian and bicycle traffic from the bike path must proceed with caution and obey all posted traffic signs and designated traffic control personnel.
Heavy rains have eroded the drainage canal on federal land that faces the Folsom Dam. This erosion does not pose any safety risk to the public.
