Black Butte Lake closes Orland Buttes boat ramp due to low water

Published Aug. 14, 2012
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District has closed one of three boat ramps at Black Butte Lake, located west of Orland, due to low water levels.

The Orland Buttes boat ramp is closed but the campground remains open, according to Mary Ann Deeming, a park ranger at Black Butte. Orland Buttes campers can launch at the Eagle Pass boat ramp at no extra charge.

“Visitors may also choose to reserve at Buckhorn Campground where the boat ramp is open,” said Deeming.

Campers can use the Orland Buttes Campground until Sunday, Sept. 9, as that campground will close for the season on Sept. 10 and reopen in April 2013.

For more information, visitors are encouraged to contact the park headquarters office at (530) 865-4781.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is America’s largest provider of outdoor recreation opportunities on federal public lands, serving more than 350 million visitors annually at 422 lake and river recreation parks in 43 states.
