Corps in Lake Tahoe
The view from the top of Eagle Rock at Lake Tahoe, California, shown Aug. 18, 2014. The trail leading up to this historical spot was rebuilt as part of a California Tahoe Conservancy and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers ecosystem restoration project at Blackwood Creek. Steep terrain, heavy erosion and overuse had made the old trail dangerous for hikers and an expressway for dirt and debris to enter the creek and make its way to Lake Tahoe. The Corps has been working on ecosystem restoration projects with several agencies in the Lake Tahoe Basin since 2005.
